I was frustrated, says suspected traffic robber

One of three former convicts arrested by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Police Command, yesterday said that frustration led him into armed robbery. 

The 21-year-old suspect, Mustapha Adekunle, said: “I’m an ex-convict. I don’t want to go to prison again. Government should please have mercy on me. It was frustration that led me into traffic robbery. I won’t do it again.”
Adekunle’s partners, Femi Amusa (20) and Popoola Olumide (20), were all arrested at Oshodi area of the state after robbing a passenger of his blackberry phone in traffic. The RRS Commandant, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Tunde Disu, said: “The suspects were arrested after the victim alerted the policemen that his phone had been snatched by some suspects in traffic.”
It was gathered that Adekunle works as a bus conductor at Oshodi, but usually sleeps at Ojuwoye, Mushin. Olumide and Amusa denied being armed robbers. They claimed that they were just ‘bus conductors’. The victim, Olasunkami Oyelakin, explained that he was on his way to Ajah about 6:30am, when he noticed Adekunle. He said:
