60 year old man demands justice over son’s death



A 60-year-old man, whose son was allegedly killed by a group of armed me around Gada Biu area of Jos North, Plateau State, has implored the State’s Commissioner of Police, to fish out the killers.

The father of the deceased, Chief Joseph Atabo of Jenta Ademu, said that on August 1,  2015,  he  and his son, Prince Ojochona Atabo, were about to have their dinner when the son’s phone rang.
Atabo said: "My son said some people were calling him somewhere. He left immediately. That was the last time I saw him. The next day, I got a call that my son had been shot dead. I was told that a group of armed men killed him around Gada Biu. My son was just 29 years.”

Atabo further disclosed that one Chukwudi Aneke had been arrested by the police in connection with the murder of Ojochona. Atabo said that Aneke confessed to the crime and even fingered five other accomplices.
The grieving father said that Aneke and his friends were part of the gang that allegedly used to terrorise Utan Community of Jos North Local Government Council. According to him, since the arrest of Aneke, members of the community have started sleeping with their two eyes close.
Speaking amidst tears, Atabo said" I’m pleading with the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nasiru Oki to ensure a thorough investigation. I want the killers of my son to face the full wrath of law."
Confirming the incident, the Plateau State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abu Emmanuel, said that some people had been arrested in connection with the killing, adding that they would be soon be charged to justice.
